![]() It touches down on the idea that everyone has their own storyĭuring the show, we see Hannah Baker misjudged and mistaken for things she really isn’t, but ironically she is the author of our story. In many ways, this TV show raises awareness. What worse thing can happen in this world? Whether it’s us falling into depression and having suicidal thoughts ourselves or it’s our loved ones doing the same, this TV show makes you think about the great possibility that something like this could happen, and it makes you think about what you could do to prevent it. Hannah Baker mentioned once that humans are social species, and I don’t think I could agree more. We live in an era where being alone is fantasized about, because it makes you stronger and more independent, but this show goes beyond these silly limitations and proves to us that no one can make it in the world alone. It shows us that no one can make it in this world alone The acting was better than what we have signed up forĪnd by acting I don’t only mean the main characters Langford and Minnette who were beyond fantastic, but the whole cast was just top notch.ħ. How some things really hurt the girls in more than an emotional way, but how most guys didn’t even understand that these things were hurtful, and how had most of these things happened to guys, nothing wouldn’t have happened, and the guys wouldn’t have been affected as much as the girls did. In the TV show, we can clearly witness how the whole high school experience differ for girls and boys. And this is exactly one of the reasons we liked this show! Because it highlights that bullying is not a thing that young kids do, or that at least it shouldn’t be. I don’t want to get into details and spoil things for you, but as we go through the episodes, we realize how much damage a simple word said by a young boy who doesn’t know any better can do. ![]() BIG DEAL, right? It actually is and this is a point which is perfectly presented as the TV show unfolds one episode after another. It highlights the fact that “Bullying is real, and that it’s not OK” ![]() And no matter what age category you fall into, you will definitely relate to some of Hannah’s struggle 4. We fall into the viscous cycle of despair sometimes. The TV show raises a lot of points that don’t necessarily require you to be a high school student to understand. It actually goes beyond the borders of a “high school” Most people underestimate the power of music when it comes to their effect on how the different scenes unfold or come out to the viewer, but luckily for all of us, 13 Reasons Why creators did an awesome job picking just the perfect tunes of both old and new music for the show. They did a perfect job picking the playlist for the TV show A girl commits suicide and she leaves 13 tapes in which she provides the reasons she took this decision, and we are left wondering if what Hannah is saying is even true, or how things unfolded afterwards. The mystery in the TV show is simple in its complexity. There are no detectives trying to unfold the mystery of how a crime went. It’s not like the mystery TV shows we are used to.

Chanting, singing, and humming, especially with a group, have been scientifically shown to calm the nervous system, improve mood and regulate stress responses, and positively change the brain. Vocal vibrations are powerful healing tools. A traditional practice is to chant a mantra. There are a variety of ways to create a personal mantra practice that is uniquely yours. Weaving Mantras into Your Daily Spiritual Practice In the absence of such guidance, you can rest on the assurance that part of the magic of these ancient languages is that their power does not depend on you being able to pronounce the words perfectly or read the original form the power is in the intention behind the words and your own interpretation and experience of the sounds. Though it would be valuable and inspiring to study with devoted Sanskrit and Gurmukhi scholars, it may not be feasible or likely for you to do. Gurmukhi is also the language of the sacred literature of the Sikhs. Gurmukhi, which means “from the mouth of the guru,” was standardized by Sri Guru Angad Sahib Ji, a Sikh spiritual leader, in the 16 th century. Other powerful mantras are in Gurmukhi, which is the script used to write the Punjabi language in India. The process is simple, all you need to do is select the desired unit from the box i.e. It is mostly used in British Isle and Ireland for measuring how much someone weighs rather than a unit for everything. With the advancement of measuring methods, the unit got homogenous and accepted as the stone, meaning that its value is no longer dependent on the size of pebbles. ![]() Stones are known from the eras when people used to estimate the weight of items by putting a similar mass of pebbles on the other side of a balance. The alterations are as follows:ġ lbs = 16 oz = 0.453 kg and 1 oz = 0.0625 lbs = 0.028 kg. We can also get value of ounces from kilograms. From there, you can change from lbs to kg to attain the SI value of an ounce. In the imperial system, the ounce is defined as 1/16 of pound. As we mentioned before, they are both pretty much the same as long as we remain on planet Earth. When the actual concept of mass and force was agreed, the pound was redefined as pound (for mass) and pound (for force). ![]() Throughout past the pound has been used as a measurement unit in different parts of the world, and it is still in use alongside the kg.Ī significant characteristic of the pound is that in the start, it was used to quantify both mass and force. The name pound is derived from the Latin word Libra (the roman unit) hence acquires the symbol (lb). The imperial pound is officially defined as 453.59 grams. 1kg = 1000g and g to kg is 1g= 1/1000 = 0.001kg The Imperial System: Pound, Ounce and Stone Pound: Kg to Pounds: 1kg equals to 2.2046 poundsįrom kg to g …. Even today the kg is expressed as a metal piece, safely kept in Paris, with replicas all over the world. This statement has some problems due to the change of water density with variation in temperature and pressure, making it compulsory to clear the doubts. The kilogram was considered to be the same as one liter of water. A basic unit system, acknowledged in all parts of the world was the SI. It just wouldn't work, if the people decide to gauge things the way they like. To begin the tale, you need to recall that trade took over globally, and we needed standardized measurements accepted in all parts of the world. We have observed some of the measuring units at the start. In this article, you will learn the basics of measuring units, conversion charts and how to use our converter? International System of Units and conversions: For example, an athlete may need to measure his weight in pounds, a shopkeeper sells goods like sugar in kg or any of the mathematical problems requiring conversions.Īre you looking for an online weight converter to assist you regarding the above said adaptations? Look no further, our online weight converter is well equipped to transform between different units. In routine life, we are faced with situations where we need to convert these units in order to continue with various tasks. An additional system which includes: the pound (l b), the ounce ( oz) and the stone ( st) is called the imperial system. The most standard and prevalent of them is the System International ( SI) with units like, gram ( g) and kilogram ( kg). Now, in order to measure this quantity, we use some measuring systems. This means that this vector quantity will vary, when measured on a different planet, having a diverse gravitational pull. Weight is equivalent to the mass multiplied by the acceleration due to the force of gravity on earth ( 9.8 m/s2). Technically, the weight is not the same as mass, it is a force expressed in newton ( N) exerted on an object’s mass, because of the gravitational acceleration. ![]() However, the science describes it in a different way. The common definition of weight is the measure of heaviness of an object or a person. (I’ve included a video below that explains it far better than I ever could, so keep reading for a visual guide in order to learn how it actually works.)Įither way, on a cloudless, clear night, a decent image-enhancing NVD can help you see someone as far as 200 yards away.īut it doesn’t make you invisible – so don’t make that schoolboy error (and you’d be surprised at how many folks think it does). It works by collecting tiny particles (photons) of light and enhancing them through a series of ingenious steps and scientific photo trickery that most of us will find difficult to get our heads around. As mentioned, this NVD is identified by the green glow. This type of night vision uses something called “image enhancement” (or image intensification) in order for the user to see objects in the dark. Night vision has been around since the 1930s and was first properly used in active service during WW2, while development for civilian use came after the war.Ĭommonly known as a night vision device (NVD) or night vision goggles (NVG), equipment that uses this technology is now readily available on the commercial market. Or perhaps at work in the thriller/horror genre – with the unforgettable Silence of the Lambs finale. We’ve all seen those movies where the special forces team silently moves into position in the dark, with the distinctive green glow of night vision goggles helping to ramp up the tension. Thermal imaging is often used in construction, such as for identifying areas of heat loss in a building.Īnd don’t forget about search and rescue – night vision can play a big part in helping locate individuals in distress or difficulty by the emergency services. The security sector is also a significant user of night vision technology, with cameras being able to highlight nefarious activities carried out in the dark while offering the ability to identify perpetrators at the same time. Night vision is also actively employed for navigation purposes and can be built into vehicles like boats and cars. We’ve all seen environmental TV shows with segments filmed using enhanced imaging. Using a special night vision scope is going to make a huge difference when trying to bag coyotes, for example.Ĭonservationists, scientists, and wildlife observers also use night vision in their study of animals in the dark. ![]() Perhaps the most common is for hunting at night or in low-light conditions. Not to be outdone, we decided to invent our own version of this, so we can also see in the dark.Īnd outside of military and law-enforcement needs, there are multiple reasons as to why we might use this night vision equipment in our everyday lives. It helps to reflect visible light through the retina and significantly improves night vision. That’s because we lack something called a tapetum lucidum, which is a layer of tissue located in the eyes of many vertebrates. When it comes to comparing us humans to many creatures in the animal kingdom, we really struggle to see at night. You’ll know when we’re specifically talking about image-enhancing night vision and when we’re talking about infrared.įurthermore, infrared is also referred to as “thermal vision,” or “thermal imaging,” just to avoid any more unnecessary confusion. ![]() Note: for the purposes of this article, we’ll be using the term “night vision” as an all-encompassing phrase.
